Summary:
$5,000 Sign on Bonus Plus Incentive Bonuses Responsible for performing the admission process and interfacing with the billing and nursing departments and coordinating billing support for residents with Medicare coverage.
Responsible for checking the Medicare beneficiary's benefits, performing the Medicare secondary payer questionnaire, explaining admissions contract and billing procedures, performing intake data from discharging entities, and utilizing the pre-admission assessment to determine PDPM category prior to admission and compiling POA, guardianship papers, consents and authorizations.
Supervises Admissions Department employees.
Contributes to and oversees all business development and marketing functions.
JOB
Responsibilities:
1) Collects pre-admission documentation from discharging entity prior to admission into the facility to determine accommodation of needs and bed availability.
2) Evaluates areas for process improvements to result in greater customer satisfaction, increased access for admission, appropriate Medicare coverage.
3) Determines appropriate Medicare coverage by checking the FISS or common working file and verifying stay dates with prior facilities.
4) Informs management staff of pending admissions.
5) Coaches, disciplines, and evaluates all admissions department staff.
6) Schedules and participates in three outreaches per week.
7) Ensures coordination of Admission process and Medicare resident for compliance to HIPAA requirements and adherence to Medicare rules and regulations.
8) Responsible for obtaining proper signature of responsible party for all admission contracts, resident rights, advanced directives, and business agreements prior to admission of each resident into the facility.
This may be delegated to concierge staff.
9) Supervises customer services representative in the new resident experience.
10) Verifies coverage with the identified insurer and obtains pre-authorization of insurance if required.
11) Facilitates the admission process for all Medicare residents throughout the facility whether they are short term or long term stays.
12) Responsible for monitoring data entry into the admission, discharges and transfers software to ensure the correct census.
13) Responsible for notifying the billing company of any leave of absence days that are not to be billed for the Medicare stay.
14) Tours families, and responsible parties around the building for possible admissions.
15) Exhibits excellent customer service skills and behaviors toward internal and external customers and coworkers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
a) Minimum education:
bachelor's degree preferred; knowledge of Medicare and of federal and state rules and regulations, basic computer skills.
b) Minimum work
Experience:
Three years of previous Medicare experience with a Medicare unit, along with long-term billing/admissions experience required.
c) Contact with others:
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with all levels of staff, including physicians, administrators, nursing staff, residents and families.
d) Analytical demand:
Requires the analytical ability to apply expertise to identify problems and recommend solutions, procedures and admissions process.

Distinguish normal sounds with background noise ranging from conversational levels to high pitched sounding alarms, while using phones, intercom system.
Professionally interact with residents, guests, and co-workers and direct to appropriate person or department.
Provide routine information and refer requests to proper sources.
Identify and intercept, when appropriate unusual occurrences to assist in monitoring security and safety of residents.
Comprehend oral and written instructions.
Communicate effectively alone or with equipment to make self understood.
Concentrate on moderate and/or fine detail with frequent interruption necessary to perform variety of tasks related to reception.
Possess attention span ranging from 10-60 minutes to perform minimal to moderate detailed tasks.
Record multiple messages and information and task assignments up to eight hours during shifts given to self and others.
Lifts and carries light objects such as resident charts, resident care items, etc.
