POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for detailed analysis of accounts/claims to obtain maximum reimbursement in an acceptable timeframe.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews, corrects, and works unpaid claims based on work assignment, department policy/procedures, and coding/payor regulations.
Communicates as necessary with payors to resolve billing issues.
Prepares and reviews routine billing reports.
Recommends process improvements based on findings.
Maintains and improves technical knowledge of billing diagnosis codes, procedure codes, modifiers and insurance regulations.
Responds to complex telephone and written inquiries from patients and/or third party payors and physician practices with resolution.
Understands assigned working goals.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS The qualifications/requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Within scope of job, this position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

- EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's Degree in Medical Billing preferred.

Experience:
Billing experience required.
One (1) year of medical billing required OR three (3) months of on the job training and orientation required Job Type:
